As a Modern Solutionary I enjoy solving problems. That is what I do!
I have a great solution that would likely put an end to the abortion battle without having to change the abortion law of the land. Instead of fighting amongst one another over whose rights are more important, let’s celebrate the truth that no one can deny; the date our life truly began. I propose that we, as a nation, change the way we define an individual’s date of existence, our traditional birthday. We should pass a law (all politicians love to pass new laws) that establishes a more progressive age tracking system; one based on the individual’s start of life not when they are removed from their mother.
With the vast medical advancements made in prenatal medicine; it is time to change with the times. Who could oppose such a modern program?
Instead of celebrating an annual birth day to keep track of our age; each person will celebrate their “Life Day”. This date will be the date a doctor ascertains to be at least thirty days after the date of conception. This date is based on scientific evidence that our heart begins to beat anywhere between eighteen to twenty four days from conception. If any rational person came across any life form with a beating heart they would surely consider it to be a living creature. This is the true start date of any species’ existence. Our traditional birth day is nothing more than our revelation date to the world and our families.
“Now think, what difference would this change make?”
Well, if our Life Day was medically established and a Life Certificate issued at that time then any disruption to that life would result in a required Death Certificate. The doctor or coroner would be mandated to list on the death certificate the reason of death; making both certificates a permanent record of the concurrent events. By requiring the medical professionals to explain this process to an expected mother at the detection of a heart beat would drive home the facts as they truly exist. We would have legal recording of the documentation of the new life and in the case of an abortion; the death.
Imagine if this would have been the process since the passing of Roe v Wade and the States would have had to list all of the abortion deaths in their statistical reports. It is estimated that over fifty eight million “legal” abortions have been performed since the law passed; each without the requirement of a death certificate. For your knowledge, currently a death certificate is only issued for non aborted fetus’ older than twenty weeks. Aborted fetus’, regardless of age, are not part of any permanent vital statistic record in the United States.
If a child is issued a life certificate that would mean that the parents would have ability to cover the child with life insurance and health insurance prior to the twentieth week of gestation. From what I know about insurance, using the “self-inflicted exemption clause”, neither health nor life insurance would be required to pay the claim. This would also solve the dispute as to whether the Affordable Care Act should pay for an abortion with tax dollars. By definition, it would not. Currently there are some restrictions as to the level of coverage for health insurance and life insurance on a non aborted child cannot start before the twentieth week of gestation.
Think about how the discussions would change about sex between consenting adults. With the possibility that within forty five to sixty days of their sexual union a life certificate might be required to be issued resulting in the couple having to declare their parenthood on the document. With the additional ramifications of that legal record as well as that of a death certificate in the event that one or both of the couple desire an abortion; it could offer cause for further consideration as to if the risks out ways the pleasure. What if sometime in the future, these individuals had other children and those children decide to do a public search of possible siblings. The life dates, dates of death, and cause of death would be revealed. Would this possibility help people make better choices before it goes that far? I would hope so.
Wouldn’t you like to see us to start celebrating the Life Day of our children?
What do you think?
If this is my last post, I want all to know there was only one purpose for all that I have written; to have made a positive difference in the lives of others.
