Passionate; Should Be a Good Thing, Right?

I love words!

Words are the basis for all written and spoken communications.  When we offer, the right words, at the right time, to the right audience they can create a wave of change spanning millenniums of human existence regardless of the language in which they were originally spoken.  The Right Words, Right Time and Right Audience culminates into the Law of the Message; another natural law and an example of the Power of the Wisdom of Three.

The first and the key driver of that law, is a word not even incorporated in the sentence; the word, Truth.  The right words will always be true. Only meaningful statements of truths can endure the passage of time when relayed to the right person at the right time.

Consider that we are living in a time when each person receives an overwhelming amount of daily information.  Televisions, computer programs, internet sites, texts and voice messaging are just a small list of the methods in which we receive spoken or written words.  As a matter of fact, worldwide we process over forty-four zettabytes of information.  If this number is correct, it means there are forty times more bytes of information than there are stars in the observable universe.  With this example of the star filled night, if only half of the stars represent truthful information and each star look just alike, you can begin to see why, in today’s world, it is so hard to identify the truth from the lies.

The second requirement is equally tricky; what is meant by the right time?  This speaks to the old adage, “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.”  In order to foster change in our selves; a person has to be in the right frame of mind to learn, profess and live the truth.  It is only then that they will accept the fact that they have been living a lie and become open to making the required changes in their life.  Timing is literally everything.

The receiver of the message will know when the time is right but the one providing the truth, may not. This is why it is so important for those who do profess the truths to do so daily and to as many people as possible. We may never know when an individual will be at their “right time”.

The third aspect of the law deals with the right audience.  Think back to the amount of data one consumes during the day.  It is coming from a multitude of sources and is being distributed to an even greater number of individual audiences.  It is the individual who controls the acceptance from the sources.  If I am trying to learn more about politics, during an election year, then I have to decide what information sources are going to provide me the most accurate information on the subject.  When the truth is revealed and I am open to accepting it, the impact can be life changing.  The same can be said for overcoming alcohol or drug abuse, extramarital affairs or any other vice carried on through living a life built around lies. This Law works every time, for every topic and for everyone once they are open to believing the truth.

Through my life’s journey, I’ve found that meaningful change, through the truth of wisdom, excites me!  The one word that defines this excitement the very best is “Passionate”.  Do you know the word “passion” comes from the Latin word, “patior”, which means to suffer?  The word ‘passionate’, literally means “willing to suffer” and it is one of those words where the modern application appears disconnected from the original meaning.  No longer does the word “passionate” conjure up images of suffering yet when we are truly passionate about something or someone, aren’t we willing to suffer for them?  That is the true essence of our modern day passions.

When it comes to learning, professing and living the truth we should all be willing to suffer so that our self and others can benefit from the positive changes the truth can bring into our lives.  Once anyone experiences the positive impact that the truth can have on their lives, they will never settle for the wrong information or the acceptable concessions that most people choose to live by.  Ethically and morally we owe it to those who depend on us to be passionate Solutionaries when it comes to the conveying the truth.

Unethical Behavior or Politics as Usual?

Power of the Wisdom of Three; Branches of Government

The world had the chance to watch our Republic’s process for the selection of an Associate Justice to the Supreme Court of the United States.  Our judicial system is one of the most revered of any country in the world.  Under our Republic form of governance; the judicial branch is one of three and the only branch not elected by the people for two reasons; to keep judges free from political encumbrances and so that they are not enticed to decide cases in the manner desired by the voting population.

Still, with centuries of experience with these processes, this week proved to be a case study in unethical and politically biased behavior.  With an opening made available due to the death of one of the nine Justices, the sitting President of the United States (the Executive Branch), by Constitutional decree, has the right to appoint a qualified replacement to the bench.  Once appointed, it is the Senate (the Legislative Branch) who is granted the authority to confirm the candidate as qualified.  This system of checks and balances is guided by the people because it is us who elect the President and the members of the Senate.

What made this conferment process unethical and grossly political was the manner in which the minority party of the judicial committee treated the nominee.  Most of these Senators hold a seat on this committee because they are experienced attorneys.  Meaning they understand juris prudence and the kind of question a qualified nominee can and should answer while maintaining an ethical decorum of the courts.  Yet, each and every minority member pursued questions which, if answered in the manner they conceivably wanted her too, would have immediately deemed her incompetent to hold any judicial position. Yet, when she, without delay, answered them appropriately, they “acted” offended and verbally belittled her character.  So, one has to ask, “Had she handled herself in an unethical and illegal manner, answering their questions to their liking, would that have been enough to vote her nomination forward unanimously?”  Instead, because she gave the perfect answer to every single question; making their tactics look extreme bad; the Senators from the minority party voted unanimously against her appointment.

As to the political abuse, these same Senators, with full knowledge that any qualified judge would rule on every case based on the sole merits of that case as to whether that law is just or Constitutional; instead spent their time pandering to a television audience using what they know to be lies to create ungrounded fears.  If this nominee was of the character to vote the way they laid out to the public, and that knowledge would have shifted their vote to approve, it would have revealed the entire minority guilty of malfeasance.  Instead, they were allowed to lie to the uninformed populace that this highly respected, morally grounded, unblemished judge was not the type of person suited to be placed in this virtuous position. The only conclusion that one can come to, that makes any sense, is that these Senators, as a united whole, believe the citizens of this Country to be idiots.

I am saddened by what my old party has become and I am made hopeful by the character of my new party.  As a Country, we must remain grounded in ethics and use every opportunity to educate the citizens as to of what is right. The desire of winning an election should never influence a political servant, but when that servant believes they are the master, the citizen is no longer important and they will do anything they can to retain their status.

Baby Boomers; The Massive Voice of Wisdom

“Each new generation exists solely through the wisdom of every previous generation.”

Anthony “Tony” Boquet, A Modern Solutionary

I am one of the many who were classified as a Baby Boomer; a moniker given to the generation of babies born after World War II in a unprecedented BOOM.  It is estimated that over 4 million babies were born each year between 1946 and 1964.  This generation had the privilege of beginning to learn leadership skills at home from an early age.  With families being the size of small sports teams, we were tested in fire.  Now, with Boomers aging, as a group, we have amassed the most education, a broad array of experiences and built deep ethical and moral values compliments of our parents, The Greatest Generation. These three-character traits are the requirements needed to make wise decisions.  The Boomers have become the mature purveyors of wisdom for our country; which can be good or bad, depending on the how many of us, are willing to apply this knowledge. The knowledge that our parents deemed, common sense.

Reflecting on this great pool of knowledge, as we prepare for a pivotal election, our Country should be in the best leadership position imaginable.  I have said many times, leadership is where everything starts and ends but the leader’s success is marked by what’s in the middle.  Any successful leader requires the support of those impacted by the ramifications of the leader’s thoughts, words and actions.  Without their acceptance the leader will fail; without a leader the group becomes splintered.

This statement infers that, at least in today’s America, every follower has the freedom to act on their own; in accordance with or against the wishes of the leader.  America was founded on Judeo-Christian values and beliefs; evident by the writings of the framers of our Constitution. These main beliefs are highlighted in the three rights of this living document; Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.  These rights ensure our freedom bestowed by our Creator and protected by our Constitution.  This is why our Republic has survived the test of time; we remain a faith bounded free people who has the authority to control the powers of our elected representatives and, in most cases, the other leaders we report to as well.

As with all authority comes the weight of responsibility.  It is my belief that this is the shared price of freedom because this responsibility rests solely on each voting age citizen and should be borne proudly but with much thought and purpose.  Consider if every citizen who chooses not to vote were required to relinquish their liberties, would they do so?  Sadly, too many times whether they acknowledge it or not, that is exactly what happens and not only do they lose precious freedoms; so, do we all.

Unlike in previous elections, the people of these United States have clear evidence that one party is being controlled by a socialist agenda.  This is a death knell to our Constitution, our authority over government and the freedoms we enjoy.  When the day comes that we turn over our authority to our elected officials, we cease to be free.  This is the fundamental difference between our Republic and that of a Socialistic society.  When any elected representatives can set the standards for the people; there will be no incentive to go beyond that standard.  We will finally all be equal to suffer in mediocrity.  As a matter of fact, if you do excel it will be at your detriment; you will be viewed as evil for merely having more than others; regardless of the price you paid to earn it.  The question then becomes; “How and why do free people chose to relinquish their freedoms?”

It is done over time with the use of fear through the control of the public messaging.  People all naturally react in much the same way as all other creatures when faced with an immediate and conceived threat. To avoid pain and more so to preserve life, man will choose the solution they believe to be best at the time. The socialist politicians always will paint government as your only reasonable solution to the threat.  During the most recent circumstances, we were not given much time to think through our choices but as time passes, the wise began to see the other choices.  The truth seekers know; there are always more and better choices than turning over your authority.

As older people who have experience many trials, we know that when we make a less than wise decision there will always be those waiting to pray on our misfortune.  The carrion is always waiting even when we make the wisest of choices but their opportunities multiple when we are weakened by bad decisions, a discouraged heart, or weariness from the fight brought on by uncontrolled emotions.  That is why we should ask each citizen to vote not with emotion but with their values at the heart of their decision.  The people we view emotionally as the most favorable do not always have our best interest at heart and those who the socialist hate the most, will always be our most valuable ally.
