The human body is a miraculous work of engineering and in all its brilliance, it is made up of only three types of materials: bones, tissues, and fluids. Not only is the human body astonishingly crafted but, in some cases, it can repair itself, while being able to flourish with only three sources nourishment: Air, Water, and Food. We can live three minutes without air, three days without water, and three weeks without food. Only the Divine has the power to solve complex issues, like creating and sustaining life using the Wisdom of Three.
Of its unique design, the Creator is said to have crafted us in His image and likeness, but since no one has ever seen Father God, how do we know? According to the dogma of the earliest Christian faith, provided through the Jewish Creation Story, here is what we believe is meant by that claim.
The concept of humans being created in God’s image and likeness is understood to mean several things, none of which means we were made to physically look like God.
First, it is believed that we are a Spiritual Reflection of God. The likeness to God isn’t seen as a physical resemblance but rather a spiritual one. We believe we have a body, mind, and soul; it is our soul that has the spiritual bond to God. This encompasses attributes like rationality, morality, creativity, the capacity for loving relationships, and free will; we have the power to choose right from wrong.
Another likeness is in our Dignity and Worth. This belief underlines the inherent dignity and worth of every human being. If each and every human bears and reflects something of God, it means that everyone has intrinsic value and should be treated with respect and love. We are each uniquely made, and as with any rare creation, it is priceless, especially with its unique flaws.
Interestingly, we believe that humanity, like the Creator, is charged with Moral Responsibility. Being made in the image of God implies we each have a certain moral responsibility; an intellect that can reason at a higher level than all other animals. Humans are seen as stewards of creation, charged with the care, preservation, and continued procreation of the world.
Finally, God gave each of us the Capacity for Relationship. This likeness signifies humans’ unique capacity to form relationships with God and with each other, fostering a community bound by love and mutual respect. This relationship is familiar and thus has an enduring quality. Every new birth begins with the sperm from a father, an egg of the mother, and the soul from God. This loving relationship is the nucleus of the human family and the foundation of society.
Although no one has ever seen God, this theological concept transcends physical appearance, focusing more on the qualitative aspects of human nature.
If this is my last post, I want all to know there was only one purpose for all that I have written; to have made a positive difference in the lives of others.
