One of the deepest eternal truths is that love always desires love in return. It’s woven into the fabric of God’s creation. Humanity feels it in our relationships, our families, and our longing for connection with our Creator. And this truth, as with all eternal truths begins with God Himself. He did not create us because He lacked love, He created us because love is the source of all that exists. Out of His abundant love, He formed us and breathed life into us. He loves us so deeply that He desires our love freely given, not forced or coerced.
That is why He gave us free will. Love cannot be commanded; it must be chosen. The angels in Heaven see God clearly and respond without hesitation. But we live in a world of chaos, distraction, and temptation. Selfish love is always easier. It promises quick satisfaction, instant gratification, and the illusion of control. Yet selfish love never fulfills, it only isolates.
God knew this when He placed us here. He understood that our freedom would be tested, that our hearts would be pulled in a thousand directions, and that choosing Him would require courage. But He also knew that the love he placed inside of us would burn stronger in the midst of chaos.
When I look at my own life, I see the moments when I chose selfishness and the moments when I chose love. The selfish choices always led to emptiness, driving me deeper into the chaos. The selfless loving choices, especially the difficult ones, brought peace, clarity, and a deeper sense of purpose. I learned that God never abandoned me in the chaos. His grace met me there, inviting me to turn back, to choose again, to grow.
Our choices matter. Every day, we decide whether to turn toward love or away from it. We decide whether to serve or to ignore, whether to forgive or to hold onto resentment, whether to seek God or to drown in noise. And even when we fail, God continues to call us into friendship with Him. He never stops offering His love, and He never stops inviting us to return it.
We are created by love, for love, and for a life shared with God. That means our purpose is not found in achievement, status, or self‑gratification. It is found in relationship, relationship with God, with others, and with us. When we choose selfless love, we participate in the very life of God. We reflect His heart. We become more fully ourselves.
The world around us may be chaotic, but chaos does not define us. Free will does. Grace does. Love does. And every day, we are given the sacred opportunity to choose the One who chose us first.
If this is my last post, I want all to know, there was only one purpose for all that I have written; to have made a positive difference in the lives of others.
